The Latest A/W 2011 Barbour Jacket Collection

Another season and another range of cool mens jackets - compliments of Barbour heritage of course. After scouting the many select website and stores that stock Barbour Jackets, our vote has to be with Stuarts London.

Why ?

Well the answer is simple they stock more Barbour than the Barour Store does itself. They got all the latest Barbour quilts , Barbour International jackets. Coolest handmade knitwear and this season the new launch of the Steve McQueen Barbour styles.

If that doesn't get you excited then don't forget to check out the latest Barbour Tokito Yoshida collab styles from Japan.

To be honest if you're a real Barbour Fan then Stuarts London is the destination to go to, prices are reasonable and if your not in London then checkout the website StuartsLondon.com.

Over and Out :))

Barbour turns Japanese

TIMELESS classic design is what John Barbour based his original creations on, when he launched the famous outerwear company, but time is not on your side when it comes to the latest range form the northern clothing icon.

Having teamed up with Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida to produce a Limited Edition capsule collection.

The To Ki To range is inspired by Barbour's rich archive and lorded technical innovations and modern fit and if they don't turn your head and cause your jaw to drop, you are probably dead.

Kicking off the range is the Bonded Blouson in stone. The three play fabric jacket, vented at the back shoulders, is based somewhat on the classic trench coat, with four front pockets, two high on the breast and two lower. The angled shirt collar and large zipper tag stir up images of both classic and modern at the same time.

The stunning vents at the rear side and back of the upper arm are practical as well as adding some nice lines to the outer body shape.

The hooded Summer Bicycle jacket with superb tartan interior and stone colouring outside is a parka style jacket with two large chest pockets, high button/zip neck and two bellow pockets. The fish tail style back hangs lower to provide splash coverage for cyclists, but let's face it is not going to be worn while cycling all whimsy down some countryside lane.

This jacket, with the typically japanese white strip at the back of the hood will be sported in and around cities and rightly so.

Oh you really could fall in love with this range.

The Motorbike short jacket tips a wink to the international and motorbike ranges from Barbour, comes in a wax finish and boasts a nice angled breast top front pocket along with two hip flap pockets, along with a rear one just in case you need somewhere to store your newspaper. Well actually it's for maps, but well, yea, you know what I mean. Coming in olive this jacket is a classic tight fit design and is simple nice as in Jazz Club way, you know it, nice.

The stone or olive Sporting Quilt jackets are a more traditional Barbour look with suede shoulder plates, elbows and corduroy collar, with cracked wax finish, this is a combination of the the Liddlesdale and Country Keeper jackets with the iconic vertical quilted body.

A five button fastening front with nice sports jacket turns at the bottom make this a real mark for the range.

I have really got to get me ones of those.

Barbour Heritage collection has no limits when it come down to the great outdoors. The International motor bike jacket is on the hit list of the coolest of trendsetters. As the heat starts to kick in the temperature begins to arise in London the Duralinen collection hits the shops. The Fly fishing jacket looks amazing, its new fabric moved on from the carbon coated jacket. Loads of utility pockets through out makes it even harder to find you mobile phone when it rings, but gives the modern walker enough space to store all those Gadgets.

For those who wanted a lighter weight alternative to the Union Jack international jacket the new Duralinen style is now in stock with a distinct paisley lined inner. All new selection of the chelsea flyweight jacket is also in store at Stuarts London.

England delivers: Barbour

However people dress it up, English tailoring is the finest in the world.

Combine that with a classic history and a ‘does exactly what it says on the tin’ reliability and Barbour is one hell of a label.

Having worked it’s way into the mainstream psyche as a working label, it has undone years of that simple misunderstanding and has become synonymous with the man who is truly in the know.

The flyweight quilt jackets in green and blue have become a norm in any lads wardrobe, while the International Trials jackets, which in many ways conjure up images of BSA riders, especially the Union Jack (should really be Union Flag, if the right usage is termed, no Queen’s ships here).

They bring back real heritage to the style and cut, as does the Antique International.

They head up the charge of class act that seems to be pouring out of the South Shields manufacturer, which has been constant since conception in 1908.

Now I am trying to keep information on the newly released Carbon Dry Fly Jacket, which comes in Atlantic blue and black to a minimum.

To say I have fallen in love with this coat is a simple way of putting it.

The attention to detail, as it is a working jacket and I am not a fisherman, is amazing. Hooks, buckles and even a pocket for fishing flies to be kept, have dragged practicality and style into a new arena in a fabulous three quarter length jacket.

But remember it’s rubbish and only I am allowed to wear it.

Some chance of that happening eh?

I can see this little masterpiece flying (ohh bad pun) off the shelves.

Despite this level of attention and class, I am amazed at the decent pricing of these garments, considering a jacket of this calibre will last for many years, the cost is more than acceptable.

Treating yourself to the classic Heritage Flt polo shirt could well round off a perfect shopping trip.

In store: Barbour V-Neck Lambswool Argyle Jumper

Intarsia is a knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colours. Fields of different colours and materials appear to be inlaid in one another, but are in fact all separate pieces, fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Unlike other multicolour techniques (including Fair Isle, slip-stitch colour, and double knitting - look 'em up!), there is only one "active" colour on any given stitch, and yarn is not carried across the back of the work; when a colour changes on a given row, the old yarn is left hanging. This means that any intarsia piece is topologically several disjoint columns of colour. Intarsia is most often worked flat, rhowever, it is possible to knit intarsia in circular knitting using particular techniques.

Common examples of intarsia include sweaters such as this Barbour V-Neck Lambswool Argyle Jumper with large, solid-colour features like geometric shapes. Argyle socks and sweaters are normally done in intarsia. Here's the spec for this sweater:

• Intarsia knitted argyle

• Tradional Argyle

• 7 gauge lambswool

• Medium weight

• Barbour tonal branding on arm

• Full fashion fit

• Contrast back neck tape

Barbour International - Heritage Motorcycle jacket

Barbour began to design and make motorcycle clothing in 1913 although the company formed in 1894. Famous for the durability and classic style, authentic and fit for purpose - Barbour belongs wherever people gather to enjoy life beyond the city. Today Barbour jackets have seen a growth on to the fashion scene away from just being "fit for purpose" , Why? Its because paying money for a jacket that's worth its value, that going to last longer than others make more sense. The fact that heritage clothing seems to be leading makes Barbour the choice of many.
The iconic Barbour International was introduced to the collection in 1936, initially as one piece suit, which evolved in to a two piece with the famous slanted pockets. The international proved a firm favourite with many trials riders, including Steve McQueen, and the American ISDT Team of 1964. Barbour garments were worn by nearly every British team between 1936 to 1977.
In the 50s and the 60s the International also became a part of the Rockers' uniform. Today, the International influences many Barbour's heritage designs, with both the distinctive black and yellow International badge, and the Union Jack of the British trials team inspiring bolder contemporary styles. Whatever the garment, however, Barbour's legendary durability and quality of materials and construction have never been compromised.
